Los Roques travel requirements
Los Roques is a national park in the Venezuelan Caribbean, about 40 minutes by small plane from Caracas. Getting there is easy once you know three things: your documents, the park entry fee and your baggage weight. Here is the same information we give our guests every day.
1. Documents to enter Los Roques
Venezuelans: national ID card (valid or expired).
Foreigners: valid passport.
Children: travel with their parents or guardians; ages 0 to 3 usually stay free.
2. National park entry fee (SATIM)
Paid on arrival at the Gran Roque airstrip, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Foreign visitors: €50 per adult and €25 for children and seniors.
Venezuelan visitors: €15 per adult (ages 13 to 59) and €8 for children and seniors.
Departure tax: about €12 (check with your airline).
3. How to get there from abroad
From Europe, the USA or Latin America, fly into Maiquetía International Airport (Caracas). Domestic flights to Gran Roque leave from there. There is also a ferry from La Guaira (out on Fridays, back on Mondays; a confirmed posada booking is required and the limit is 25 kg). 4. Baggage allowance
Most airlines flying to Los Roques (Conviasa, Aerocaribe, Sasca) allow 10 kg of checked baggage. Extra weight costs €2 to €3 per kilo. Travel light: here is our Los Roques packing list.
5. Payments and money
